Abstract

The explanation or interpretation of the verses of the Holy Quran is called Tafsir, and the type of Tafsir which is made through different transmission sources is called Tafsir Al Mathor. A Narration from the Prophet is termed Hadith, while a Narration from a companion Sahabi or a Successor Tabie is called ASAR or MATHOR. The Science of Citation and Extraction of a Narration from the original sources is Termed TAKHRIJ. As refrance the right sources is one of the requisites of research, and hence the importance of TAKHRIJ and its sources is manifest. Some of the methods used for Extraction and location of a Narration from the original
sources of MATHOR are following: Location of a Narration by its relative verse of Quran which is most helpful method of Extraction of a Narration, as most of the tafsir sources are arranged according to the Quranic surahs order. Location of a Narration by its first few words. While the helpful source in this method is the indexes of narrations compiled in alphabetical order, like indexes of Tafsir Sanaani d. 211, Tafsir un Nassai d. 303, and Tafsir ebn Al Munzir d. 318. Location by its Narrator; companion Sahabi or a Successor Tabie. The helpful source in this regard is the index of narrations arranged according to the narrators, like index of Tafsir ebn abi Zamnain d. 399. Location by any word of a Narration. The Extraction of a Narration could be made in this method manually in the lexicon of Narration, like the lexicon of Tafsir un Nassai d. 303. Another source of search is computer search programes like Shamila Liberary, although a best software for data search, however one significant point in this regard is that trust on Shamela lonely is unauthentic. Rather the search results from Shamela should be tallied with printed or PDF book. Among the early compilers of Tafsir Mathor are: Tafsir Mujahid bin Jabar d. 102, Tafsir Sufian Thori d. 127, Tafsir Muqatil Bin Sulaiman d. 150, Tafsir ul Quran lebne Wahb d. 197, Tafsir Abdurrazaq Sanaani d. 211, Tafsir an Nassai d. 303, Jami ul Bayan le Attabri d. 310, Tafsir ebn Al Munzir d. 318, Tafsir ebn abi Hatim arrazi d. 327.
