Forms of automatic slaughter and their legal provisions
Abstract
In the present era, because of scientific advances, machines have been used for slaughtering animals. On the other hand, there is a need to use machines to meet the nutritional needs of the growing human population. The idea of reducing costs using fewer human resources also doubled the importance of machines, for such reason the use of slaughter machine has begun in some developed countries.
What is the shar'i rule for the use of slaughtering machine? In this article, the point of view of scholars and their arguments will be presented. Some conditions are documented by Islamic scholars for slaughtering as mentioned in shar'i law.
The slaughterer must be a Muslim or the follower of the Holy Quran.
Recite Bismillah while slaughtering. According to Hanafi jurists, it is necessary to cut three veins. It is better to cut four veins. But at least three are necessary.Cutting with a sharp instrument.
According to most scholars, cut between the upper chest and between the jaws.
If these conditions are met, then slaughtering is lawful otherwise it is not. While slaughtering through machines, it is necessary to recite Bismillah on each animal separately. It is also important that the animal must be alive at the time of slaughtering.
So, eat of that on which the name of Allah has been mentioned, if you are believers in its verses.
In this blessed verse, the word "dhikr" has been used to mean the unknown, i.e., while slaughtering the one on whom the blessed name of Allah Almighty is recited, must be eaten. It is not necessary for the subject to be present, so if the recording is running, the purpose will be fulfilled. But the recorded voice should be of a Muslim.
